Radiology (Digital X-Rays)
At Crossroads Animal Hospital, we use a digital X-ray system that produces high-resolution pet imaging with greater clarity and less radiation than traditional film X-rays, giving our veterinarians detailed, accurate images right away.
Veterinary radiology is one of the most valuable tools in diagnosing conditions affecting your pet’s bones, joints, chest, and abdomen. Pet X-rays are commonly used to evaluate fractures, joint disease, heart and lung conditions, foreign body ingestion, and more, and are often a critical first step when something doesn’t seem right but can’t be revealed through a typical wellness exam.
Our diagnostic radiology capabilities extend to dentistry as well. During dental cleanings, we utilize digital dental X-rays to examine what lies beneath the gumline, because a tooth that looks healthy on the surface can conceal infection, bone loss, or structural damage that requires treatment.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound imaging is a non-invasive, real-time diagnostic tool that allows our veterinarians to examine your pet’s internal organs in detail, without surgery or sedation in most cases. Our team is trained to perform dog and cat ultrasounds to assess the liver, kidneys, spleen, bladder, gastrointestinal tract, and more.
For more complex imaging needs—including advanced abdominal ultrasound or cases that warrant specialist review—we partner with a mobile ultrasound practitioner who visits our hospital and works with board-certified radiologists and cardiologists, providing both convenience and complete continuity of care.
In-House Laboratory Services
Our highly trained veterinary technicians are skilled in operating our diagnostic equipment and performing in-house microscopy for additional analysis. For cases that require deeper investigation, we work with a nationally recognized outside laboratory that connects us with board-certified specialists as required.
Endoscopy & Cardiac Echocardiograms
Some diagnostic procedures require specialized equipment and expertise that go beyond general practice—and we believe in being transparent about that. Endoscopy, which uses a small camera to visualize the gastrointestinal tract and other internal structures, is a valuable tool for diagnosing conditions that might otherwise require invasive surgery. Cardiac echocardiograms provide detailed imaging of the heart’s structure and function, and are essential for evaluating suspected heart disease in dogs and cats.
While these services are not performed on-site at Crossroads Animal Hospital, we coordinate referrals directly to our sister clinic, Hobart Animal Clinic, where both endoscopy and cardiac echocardiograms are available. Our team will work closely with you to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of care throughout the process.
