Orthopedic Surgery
Orthopedic conditions—such as torn ligaments, fractures, joint disease, and other musculoskeletal issues—sometimes require specialized surgical expertise beyond the scope of general practice. For pets who need orthopedic procedures, including cat and dog orthopedic surgery and pet knee surgery such as TPLO or other ligament repairs, we coordinate referrals directly to the experienced team at our sister clinic, Hobart Animal Clinic, located nearby in Northwest Indiana.

From your first conversation with our team to the moment your pet comes home, we’re with you every step of the way. Here’s what the surgical process looks like at Crossroads Animal Hospital:
- Before Surgery: Your pet will receive a complete physical examination and any recommended pre-anesthetic diagnostics, including bloodwork, to confirm they’re ready for the procedure. Our veterinarian will review the plan with you, discuss anesthesia and pain management, and answer any questions before moving forward.
- During Surgery: Your pet is continuously monitored using advanced anesthesia equipment, with close attention to their vital signs and comfort throughout the procedure. Pain management protocols are in place from the start—not just after the fact.
- After Surgery: A member of our team will reach out to let you know how your pet did and provide detailed recovery instructions. We’ll be available to answer follow-up questions and address any concerns during the healing process.
